Helping Sexually Abused Children
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
First of all we should protect children and promote recovery
A child has been sexually abused how painful is this discovery
It is natural to have different emotions, shock and sadness
People may feel anger, disgust, disbelief and helplessness
One should be careful, and a kind of calmness may pose
Otherwise the child may not be ready for anything to disclose
They fear that any disclosure will affect their fame
If adults’ response is inappropriate, children may feel guilt and shame
We should tell children that in them we shall believe
This positive feeling will encourage and provide some relief
The children are not dirty but pious and clean
In these innocents any bad thing no one has seen
What happened was not their fault, it should be stressed
Otherwise they will feel discomfort and remain depressed
We should say how painful it was for them to tell
All efforts will be made for perpetrators to go to hell
To comfort the child we should try to do everything
What can hurt the heart of child, avoid that thing
After speedy completion of all required legal formalities
Severe punishment be given to perpetrators by relevant authorities
Child sexual abuse will not stop unless each society section
On behalf of children sincerely take effective action

Health Risks of Child Labourers - By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Health Risks of Child Labourers
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
For working children’s health status two important aspects
Living conditions and their activities on health have effects
They are compelled to work day and night indeed
To meet their own and family’s each fundamental need
They face problems like low levels of income and unemployment
Deprived of safe drinking water and have to enjoyment
Have little access to schools or to hospital treatment
On small mistakes have to face serious impeachment
Of hygiene and health care there is always a lack
Cannot afford milk of cow, buffalo or in pack
Children of poor classes are hardly sent for vaccination
They also do not go to school to get education
In poor working conditions will not deteriorate, what to speak
The health status of these children who are already weak
In fact in each and every children work place
Different types of health risks they have to face
In inappropriate labour conditions they cannot properly grow
Less strong than adults, and mental and physical levels are low
Their health is affected badly when they work on roads
Have to handle tools and machinery and carry heavy loads
In fabrication of brackets and blowing of glass
Children would not have been involved in dangerous jobs alas!
They suffer from problems of respiration including eye
Could become serious any time and even may die
Have we done our duty and at any stage protested?
Children do labour in workshops, which by law is unprotected
Working hours for most child labourers are quite long
It has bad effect on their health, this argument is strong
For meager money they handle machinery and dangerous tools
Are compelled to work day and night and made fools
The prolonged contact with various kinds of chemical agents
Can make many children laborers at any time patients
We must work hard to end any human right violation
Do our utmost to eliminate all kind of child exploitation
Life conditions of child sex workers have become tougher
From sexually transmitted diseases many of them suffer
Child labour from the whole world must be eliminated
From taking very bold steps should not be hesitated

Forced Pregnancies - By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
FORCED PREGNANCIES
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Gender-based violence if someone wants to see in its worst shape
This is coerced pregnancy which is usually result of a rape
Victims of rape suffer badly, it is true not a drama
From physical consequence of sexual assault and psychological trauma
Physical injuries to a woman range from cuts to bruises
Many times the innocent to her conscious even loses
The heart starts to burst, when on occasions we hear
Raped women become unconscious and die when injuries are severe
Persistent post-traumatic stress disorder becomes part of their fates
It has been proved that rape survivors have high rates
Will suffer from lot of depression and are likely to decide
They are rape victims and many times commit suicide
Experience sexual dysfunction and fear of sexual problems with arousal
No one would like these victims and send any proposal
In addition to other evils one of the most serious consequences
Raped women have to suffer from unwanted pregnancies
Raping women and make them pregnant, who calls it humanity
They never get support, medical care and can’t preserve dignity
To complete the pregnancy is also one torturous choice
Otherwise with illegal, dangerous abortion methods will have to compromise
To sexually transmitted diseases women are often exposed
Physical and emotional horrors of sexual violations on them are imposed

Faces Are Burnt - by Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Faces are Burnt
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Many young, beautiful, attractive and innocent women
After all why they are burnt by these cruel men?
If a girl to an unwanted lover will refuse
He may burn her face or can physically abuse
Very often we witness the worst types of cases
Unsuccessful lovers put acid and burn their beloved faces
Yong girls, before who were considered very beautiful
Are burnt by stupid persons which is so painful
Now, good reputation, these girls will not carry
Men would be ready to start “career” but not marry
By courts, instead of being sentenced to death
Culprits are bailed and to girls are giving threat
Future of these girls is spoiled, life becomes a test
Acid disfigures the face, neck or part of chest
Such number of women may not be dying through accidents
Than victims of love, dowry, land dispute and familial incidents
Could be relatives, professionals or even labours
No need to be astonished, most attackers are victims’ neighbours

Empowering Young Children - by Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Empowering Young Children
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Parents should avoid with their children any kind of deadlock
Rather help them to feel save and with them freely talk
Unluckily if and when children have been molested
Parents should reassure their love, so they do not feel insulted
We must tell our children to be alert and smart
Their body is private and no one should dare touch any part
We should tell children at all times they must remember
No one can touch their body including a family member
If someone touches their body, should tell parents immediately
So they can handle at their level such things appropriately
To have an unusual relationship no adult should dare
If it happens, the child with parents must share
Parents should take it very serious and never avoid
If children feel any discomfort, must take their full side

Commercial Sexual Exploitation - by Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Commercial Sexual Exploitation
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Commercial sexual exploitation is mainly linked to poverty
Because many families do not have enough income and property
When family does not have sufficient money to feed
Trafficking of children sometimes becomes their need
Survival of the family is the main concern
Education, dignity, good future come on later turn
If all people in all respects are equally treated
Most concerns would end when poverty defected
In addition to economic concern, the big family size
Can be linked to poverty, so we should try to minimize
Should create economic opportunities everyone must get job
Particularly to poor and sex workers we should try to absorb
About education everyone should have this realization
It is quite critical to end children sexual exploitation
Education provided useful information on child rights
Lot of knowledge s also available on different websites
With education, young people get enough enjoyment
It is also a pre-requisite for getting an employment
Education provides knowledge of reading, writing and calculations
Young people learn skills needed to handle difficult situations
It gives young people knowledge and self-esteem
They become good citizens and remain in mainstream
If practice of early marriage we want to delay
Boys and girls longer in schools will have to stay
Tradition of getting help of children in time of need
Indirectly promotes commercial sexual exploitation indeed
Communities which sexual exploitation are sanctioning
Have very little respect for girls, it is worth-mentioning
On sexual exploitation of a girl everyone should bother
Because in the future she will also become a mother
There is a need to identify and improve ethic codes
Children are being exploited in homes and on roads
Family is considered as the child’s principal protector
It plays important role in building child’s character
Cannot forget throughout life and always remembers
A child when exploited by own family members
Husband does not earn even a single penny
Young wife’s awful business gives him enough money
But why parents of such a girls keep still quiet?
And for her genuine rights do not try to fight
Separated, broken and divorced families have hardly interaction
And they are unable to provide children with any protection
In order to develop a comprehensive understanding of matter
Dialogue between children, parents and adults is better
Till punishment of exploiters, society will remain disturbed
Without functioning legal system, exploitation may not be curbed
Legal framework is job of parliament, not of academicians
Who do not work together for this all politicians?
For development of legal framework be provided full support
Governments be pushed to work hard and submit report
Young people are future of the country they belong
If they are sexually exploited, how country will be strong
Sexual exploitation can cause damage to mental health
We should try to protect our children – the ‘real wealth’
Illegal child labour, abuse and molestation be prevented
Children from flaunting or display of nude body be protected
Children do not tell others, they are threatened and scared
If exploiters are identified, they must not be spared
To stop sexual exploitation and child labour each donor
If put pressure on governments, they will have to honour
Sexual exploitation cannot be prevented by focusing on one factor
Many are responsible, not one person, group or sector
It is a global evil and environment is very complex
Sincere efforts be made to prevent exploitation
The Greatest Sin! Commercial Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of Children - by Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
The Greatest Sin!
(Commercial sexual exploitation and abuse of children)
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Trafficking in girls and boys for sex and child prostitution
In South Asia unfortunately has become an institution
Other types of abuse are sex tourism and child pornography
How shameful are those who do and see such photography
Boys and girls between 8 and 13 are sexually abused
Sometimes they are murdered when they have refused
Children of under-privileged religious and ethnic groups and minorities
Are victims of sexual exploitation, these are undeniable realities
Migrant, bonded labourer, disabled or in work places
Even in institutional care, sexual exploitation a child faces
Limited access to reproductive health services, life skills and education
Increases vulnerability of adolescents and worsens the situation
HIV/AIDS is rapidly increasing through other means and injections
Child sexual abuse increases risk of sexually transmitted infections
Several other actors outside the home are involved but mainly
Selling children for prostitution is also promoted by family
Most of the time a child is abused and disgusted
Someone who is familiar with, and by child is trusted
In majority of cases sexual abusers are men
But are sometimes young boys and can also be women
Among important factors are, weak legislative and judicial implementation
Others are poverty, globalization, social and gender discrimination
Though poverty is an underlying cause for child sexual abuse
Actions can be taken to control, cannot be an excuse
Rights of children, both in cities and areas even remote
Positive cultural, religious, and moral values may protect and promote
Root causes of gender inequality, violence and abuse
By building partnership between adults and children can reduce
Trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation is a recognized abuse
But children rights to migration how can we refuse
Children in street-based prostitution or living in brothels
Or children of sex workers are exploited in homes and hotels
All children carry equal rights, society must have this realization
Require right-based and child friendly actions to counter stigmatization
Actions to control pornography require uniform definition in legislation
Plus surveillance, and access to internet users for investigation
Profile of sexual abusers reflects quite a number of factors
Attitude towards sexuality, gender, power, muscularity are main actors
Misconception about sexual health is also a major factor
Which has also become a part of sexual abusers’ character
In wars, conflicts, disasters and rapid change, operate with impunity
Also during the social displacement, try to spoil the community
Where men are working away from home, through internet
Sexual abusers particularly with children keep contact
Children who are sexually exploited must be provided support
Sex perpetrators be strictly punished upon each report
To combat sexual exploitation and abuse is essential law enforcement
Law reforms are also required with society’s full endorsement
Either it is a case of sexual exploitation, abuse or rape
Violators must be strictly punished without any escape
Lengthy and costly, gender and child insensitive legal procedures
Impede timely and effective actions, be realized by leaders
For child survival, development and best interests, with full determination
Actions must be guided by CRC principle of non-discrimination
The issue is so serious, much more to be done remains
Commitments should be fulfilled in order for good gains
Sexual exploitation and abuse go against values of society
From such bad evils has forbidden also God Almighty
Everyone should believe in it no need of any bet
Sexual abuse and exploitation of children pose a big threat
Efforts needed at all levels – locally, nationally and regionally
This may be strengthened by what is being done globally
With involvement of civil society and children’s participation
All efforts should be made for effective implementation
All boys and girls under 18 as children be treated
Any other definition from dictionary be deleted
They enjoy special rights as in CRC are enshrined
Age of protection be applied as in CRC defined
Impossible for anyone to do alone, it is a team work
We must ensure an effective and adequate legal framework
Legal procedures be right-based and child friendly
No penalty as criminals, but treat children humanely
All law enforcement officials be appropriately guided
Child rights training to lawyers, judges and police be provided
Existing legal processes and procedures may be simplified
On basis of lessons learned in implementation be revised
Perpetrators must be followed and punished in each region
Either in country of crime or in country of origin
Proper registration of birth and marriage be ensured
For reference and identity, certificates be secured
Opportunities for early child development be maximized
For free and compulsory primary education energies be utilized
Through gender-sensitive media campaigns awareness be raised
Focus on children’s rights particularly on exploitation and abused be placed
Code of conduct for public portrayal of children in media
Would benefit all children and seems and good idea
To strengthen economic security of poor, bold economic safety nets
Offer alternative source of livelihoods and reduce burden of deaths
Such mechanisms are required and decentralized governance
Children protection be part of it without any hindrance
Every child, regardless of origin, within any borders
Enjoys rights under the CRC no need of further orders
To their place of origin by consultation and coordination
Children should be assisted for recovery and reintegration
Adopt easy procedures, a human approach and less bureaucracy
Between govt. and NGOs direct communication and advocacy
Create and support community support services with broad vision
Ensure family counseling with equitable health services provision
Avoid girls and boys victims from possible suicidal death
Create safe spaces and address physical and mental health
A process for regional action should soon be institutionalized
Support of government, NGOs and judicial system be mobilized
International agencies and children’s organizations be also involved
Only then the problems of children could be solved
All partners through regular quarterly or annual consultations
May review the progress and make further recommendations
Any good practices with other countries be shared
To punish sexual abusers single minute not be spared
Mechanisms to address issues like trafficking may be established
Make sure that all tasks by the partners are accomplished
Knowledge centres on sexual exploitation and abuse be created
Qualitative and quantitative indicators developed and reports generated
More attention is required in the field of research
Can find useful information whoever is in search
Advocacy mechanisms are required for improved national birth registration
Status of children can be ensured by identification and legislation
With computer and tourism industry to implement necessary measures
Active partnership may be created to stop ‘dirty pleasures’
International and national academic institutions and media partnerships
Should build effective linkages to address children hardships
Capacity of partners and government people at all levels
Must be built to fight against all social evils

The Story of Children - by Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
The Story of Children
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
A mechanism for planning and development should take start
Children, in their own programmes could themselves take part
There may not be enough success without their participation
With open mind should involve children with any hesitation
After all these children are our society’s cream
We must respect and promote their self-esteem
No need to be strict but with them should be cool
They have lot of wisdom we cannot make them fool
All decisions should be made with their consultation
Like dresses, food, sports, future career or education
If they are not listened they would start to hate
And think why elders are playing with their fate
To discuss their own matters be allowed get together
If they suggest solutions to their problems, it is better
Children feel proud whenever they have been consulted
If not, they may feel isolated, ignored and insulted
Whenever to do something provided with an opportunity
Children may perform well and prove their capability
To whom she has not seen, it is not fair
Will be married with him soon and become pair
Children be taken into confidence by parents and teachers
Should also listen to them, and not act always as preachers
When elders would think decision making is only their right
Children would be unhappy and angry and remain quiet
Children are humans and like animals should not be driven
If not all, some share of decision making should be given
Encourage to open up, whatever they want to say
Compared to adults, children think in their own way
Rights of children should not only be in writing
For their implementation is needed continuous fighting
Are we playing our role for poor children’s survival?
Most of them are even sick before to this earth arrival
Not harsh but people should speak with them softer
They need family love and to be properly looked after
They need good food, water, protection, and education
Plus clean and healthy environment for their recreation
No one in the world to them should tease
And be able to live with love and peace
Poor children don’t get enough food to grow
Their health is affected and efficiency remains slow
No hospital on sick children enough attention pays
Poor children are treated in dangerous and traditional ways
It is a true fact not only a fiction
Fathers of poor children get into drug addiction
To get drugs by them many items are sold
Finally becomes empty the whole household
Poor young children are then sent on streets
They earn some money and whole family eats
For money, young girls with old men are married
Can hardly see their family, far way are carried
Men and women plus children who are younger
During wars are affected and are dying with hunger
The elders are killed and children suffer physically
They are forced for begging and also suffer emotionally
They must be protected from all kind of sexists
And should not be victims of any terrorists
Political leaders should stop all kinds of fights
And rather pay attention on children rights
It is very painful, fearful and quite tiring
With immediate effect should stop this firing
Each government, NGO, individual and also donor
Stop killing of innocent girls in the name of honour
Little time for rest and insufficient food to eat
Sometimes employers to child workers even beat
Whoever to young children for work employs
With gender discrimination their future destroys
People think boys do not have any problems
And this is one of their biggest problems
With this societal thinking boys do not dare
Never discuss their problems and do not share
For sister dowry they have to work whole day
Towards education attention how can they pay?
Parents say their sons would have to be strong
To help their family will have to work for long
Depending upon family’s preference and mood
Innocent girls normally get the left over food
Although they are equally competent and perfect
Like boys, good treatment most girls do not get
Some people think, by education, girls are spoiled
Sending daughters to school after primary they avoid
Girls wash dishes and iron clothes when from school return
While boys do school work there is no other concern
Boys get money from parents and enjoy no doubt
Girls are always ignored and not allowed to go out
If girls feel happy or wear good dress
People look at them suspiciously and create fuss
Any time, while going school, may be a mishap
Girls remain afraid, someone to them could kidnap
Naughty boys on way to school shall tease
She will sit and cry alone for tension to release
If she will not tolerate and to parents will complain
She will be stopped from school, at home will remain
As compared to boys their problems are more
They are not doubled, rather multiplied by four
Girls have problems with less chances of ease
Wherever they go, someone is there to tease
Either they are on bus stops, in markets or parks
Innocent girls have to face different rude marks
Can’t go out alone, has to be accompanied by father
If he is not available, will depend on mother
Many times she will have to go with brother
This will affect his studies and unnecessarily bother
----
Without revenge this world was a beautiful place
Everybody was peaceful with a happy face
For family honour, murders are done by small boys
Real culprits are adults, they are used a toys
Why girls and women are killed, can anybody tell?
Should be punished by law, let them go to hell
To take family revenge young boys have to fight
Are sent to jail where life is very tight
Why girls and boys are kidnapped and killed?
What are the needs of culprits which are fulfilled?
There is no doubt, it is hundred percent correct
Primary duty of parents is for their children to protect
Some kidnappers are to that extent bold
To get many kidnapped children kidneys are sold
Some times their arms and legs are broken
For begging, children, to other places are taken
This evil has been happening since many centuries
Innocent children are being sold to other countries
If children do not get kindness, love and affection
In this world for them there is no attraction
------
If employers beat, children cannot hit back
They are very powerful with option to sack
Upon losing the job whole family will suffer
There will be more problems and life become tougher
Working children are being tortured in many ways
Have to work on machines even on important holidays
Owner gives to working child this special favour
Earns 500 as profit only 50 pays as labour
--------
Although they are careful and remain alert
During work on machines different parts of body hurt
How much can do, their bodies are small
They are not adults, but children after all
On one side they are victims of employers’ anger
Machines at factories can cause any kind of danger
Jobs of working children are sometimes quite technical
Their hands hurt with paint and eyes with chemical
If something is broken or the work is not complete
Owner will become angry and he may also beat
Sometimes during work they cannot put on fan
They suffer from heat and also feel pain
They enjoy load-shedding, power should not come back
Hardly get an opportunity for rest during time which is slack
-----
Some incidents will never go out of their mind
For purpose of killing that man they should find
In lieu of a few hundred and small monthly pay
Employers abuse young girls and boys each day
Little girls and boys remain often confused
At any time by someone may be sexually abused
People touch their bodies with very bad intention
They are shy and to any one hesitate to mention
Parents must try to provide them sex education
so that they are alert and can face any situation
Laws be strictly implemented and sexual abuse be finished
Children be protected and offenders must be punished
------
If elders smoke in front of children it has bad effect
Children copy their parents and elders it is 100% correct
For children’s future drugs serve as a big enemy
They spoil health of users and a burden on economy
To feed poor family young boys work in workshops
Why do not addict fathers try now to stop?
Working children become drug addicts due to work load
They have many tensions, are seen lying on road
From all kinds of torture, juvenile offenders be protected
Any unfair treatment with them be rejected
If genuine requirements are easily met of a needy
No one will take law in hands, if justice is speedy
Most children cannot afford chair or a table
Others enjoy cars, computer, planes, dish and cable
There are many ramps, signals and sign boards
Still many children are killed often on roads
In a small village, town or even a city
For children create dangers, cables of electricity
Should bury the rubbish underground in one place
So children can breathe and live in clean space
---
Growing up children need proper guidance and care
If it is not possible for us, it is unfair
Children should be treated with love and affection
Otherwise they will feel for parents less attraction
Before the age when certain habits become strong
Parents must educate their children about right and wrong
If parents provide proper guidance during adolescent years
Children will remain on right track, will be less fears
Children may be spoiled if environment is bad
When society does not take it serious, it is so sad
We shall have to be responsible and also brave
To our children otherwise from evils who will save?
Instead of putting them in prison of isolation
Juvenile offenders when freed need consolation
It is their basic right and not a crime
Why some parents think playing is a waste of time?
Play makes them disciplined, responsible and punctual
Through exercise each part of body becomes fully functional
Must try to protect, for life they have a right
Also endeavour to make disabled children future bright
What do the parents expect than this more?
Polio drops and Vit A capsules are given door-to-door
All parents in whole country must be motivated
So that all under-5s are properly vaccinated
Why special children at their homes should stay?
Do not they have a right to come out and play?
Educational expenses poor parents can not afford
Childrens’ talent is wasted in streets and roads
Instead of books, by putting tools in their hands
Children are compelled to work in mud and sand
After school have to take care of their cattle
Poor working children have to fight long battle
Most girls get admitted to schools very late
Parents do not realize and blame their fate
Aged girls in lower school classes feel lot of shame
They feel it affects their reputation and fame
Knowledge can gradually be gained at any age
Every big book starts after all from first page
There is a need to establish adult education centres
So every girl could be educated wherever she enters
In order to increase enrollment it is necessary
Education should be made free and compulsory
How can the poor parents pay school fines?
They cannot even afford food for three times
Many children leave schools due to bad attitudes
Teachers should keep in mind students’ aptitudes
Students do not like punishment but love and affection
Teachers should be careful in taking harsh action

Child Sexual Abuse - by Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Child Sexual Abuse
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
When a person involves a child into a sexual relation
Will come under term of child sexual abuse this situation
It includes genital fondling and also masturbation
Plus oral sex, fondling of breasts, and vaginal or anal penetration
Sexual abuse could also be something like voyeurism
In other words it may be an act of exhibition
Some people are engaged in dirty type of photography
These stupids compel children to expose to pornography
Using innocent children for the purpose of prostitution
In many countries this has become an ugly institution
Most children have to live in a state of dangers
May be sexually abused by family members or strangers
Most of child sexual abuse happens due to acquaintance
Children are not in a position for refusal or acceptance
Child sexual abuse is the worst of all crimes
It may occur with a child once or many times
Victims of this abuse are both boys and girls
How cruel are those people who damage these pearls
In home of victims or offenders such incidences occur
Many thousand of children from such an abuse suffer
To remain silent, children, by perpetrators are threatened
They do not disclose and from consequences are frightened
Adults do not discuss with children any sexual matter
In order to alert children if they do, it is better
There is no need to maintain any kind of secrecy
About dangers of sexual abuse children should have some intimacy
Children will not disclose regarding sexual abuse directly
Through behavioral signs and indicators they may tell indirectly

Child Rights - by Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Child Rights
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
CRC ion November 1990 by Pakistan was ratified
Rights of all children be ensured who would feel satisfied
How can any convention in a country be enforced
Unless legislation is done and by parliament endorsed
Institutions to safeguard child rights suffer from mismanagement
They are weak, lack resources, and overall commitment
Mostly they have to rely upon mercy of bureaucrats
If politicians are not sincere, same is case with technocrats
At societal level between women and men there is discrimination
It affects maternal health, female literacy and participation
A division in society by poverty has been created
Concrete actions not taken, children problems merely debated
Child labour in the country has very wide prevalence
Low literacy, high mortality, and morbidity require more surveillance
Human lives have little value with quite bad conditions
How can a society prosper in ignorance and feudal traditions?
Health
Children die from diarrhea, measles and low birth weight
Malnutrition, malaria and pneumonia decide about their fate
Antenatal and postnatal care has not been better organized
Well being of our children before is jeopardized
At primary, secondary and tertiary levels health care system comprises
Due to so many weaknesses most people prefer private enterprises
In public health facilities health services are subsidized
Still general public from these services is not satisfied
Unfortunately, public sector expenditure on health is quite low
People hardly get any treatment, to government facilities when go
There is lack of planning and health sector suffers from mismanagement
Good doctors, nurses and other staff must get encouragement
There is gender imbalance, focus on preventive aspect is insufficient
Health staff is mostly absent from duty and also inefficient
Performance of public sector is poor, people have less confidence
They have to thinkmany times before leaving the residence
Health needs of majority people, private sector does cater
More people believe their services than public sector are better
In private health sector there is need of legislations
To discourage quackery must be made rules and regulations
It is bad luck of country we take it as a fun
Rough ratio of quacks to doctors is three to one
In rural and poor urban areas non-formal medical practitioners operate
People are so ignorant and with them still cooperate
People consult practitioners for services on reproductive health and sexuality
They deal in surgery and dentistry, know nothing in actuality
These medical practitioners are like butchers, this is a reality
Their only purpose is to grab money and have low mentality
Knowledge is very little, however, they have extensive reach
People should be careful from them, there is a need to reach
In this situation how their future will become bright
We must endeavour to give our children their health right
Education
Education be made free, easily accessible and compulsory
To increase literacy rate these things are quite necessary
In education sector have been used, lot of energies and forces???????????
With less attention on free, compulsory education and sufficient resources
Different experiments were conducted but all efforts failed
People responsible for low literacy must be jailed
When budgetary allocations for education will remain low
Progress in literary rate will definitely be slow
Why have we not been able to utilize money efficiently?
Please get rid of mismanagement, it is requested obediently
Problems of education sector now have become immeasurable
What needs to be done to overcome is not easily measurable
Perhaps to put education sector on the right track
To all black sheep we shall have to sack
If we want that enrolled children in schools should stay
Education be made attractive and grounds to play
There are many schools with poor or no structures
How students can learn something and listen to lectures
Most schools hardly have facilities of water and sanitation
And we are expecting from them quality education
With little or no training, many abusive teachers
Are source of students dropouts these ‘gentle’ preachers
A large number of teachers from schools remain absent
In selection of subjects, parents hardly get students consent

Innocent Brick Makers - by Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Innocent Brick Makers
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Remain busy in moulding bricks from the clay
Stand in a high temperature of fire whole day
Since hundreds of years the buildings are made
So brick making can be called an ancient trade
Although this fact is in everybody’s knowledge
Child labour in brick industry people hardly acknowledge
As a labourer is recognized only family head
And any type of amounts to him are paid
To know about this fact one may be surprised
A great portion of work force on children is comprised
Look at these children of six to eight years age
To whom parents in brick making profession engage
From dawn to late afternoon bricks will make
Even during hot day only short break will take
On working grounds there is hardly any shade
They have to stay in sunshine of high grade
In winter they suffer a lot from severe cold
To work in heat of summer they have to be bold
How much pain in heart do we get when hear
No shoes while working these children can wear
Instead of going to school and in grounds to play
Children inhale gases from coal and dust from clay
Due to bad working conditions and lack of rest
Children suffer from diseases plus infections of chest
In order to make sure their needs are met
Children of brick kiln labourers suffer from burden of debt
Arrangement of borrowing proves to be a big mishap
Due to interest and low wages labourers can’t escape trap
Until the time entire amount of advance is repaid
Whole family prisoners of the owner is made
These owners are so cruel and make this condition
To leave work premises workers need their permission
They have to obey the owners and whoever refuses
Should be ready to face physical and other abuses
Rape of women and even abduction of family members
Has been reported from brick kiln workers large numbers
About brick kiln labourers how painful are realities
Largely come from lowest classes, religious or ethnic minorities
These poor workers hardly have an opportunity for education
They have to work in kiln premises in isolation
Majority inherit work and debt from their fathers
If we go one step in past it comes from forefathers
Their parents before them face humiliation and insult
The children feel fear and insecurity as a result
Lack of education, illiteracy and without suitable employment
Brick kiln children have no source of happiness and enjoyment
Advocacy and other efforts must be made at each level
We should work for all children betterment and upheaval

Gender Based Violence - by Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Gender Based Violence
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Should speak up and try to break the silence
Role of institutions in important in combating gender based violence
Police and judiciary should be considered on the top
If they are sincere, gender based violence can stop
Two basic social institutions can play a vital role
Depends a lot on ‘community’ and ‘family’ as a whole
For distressed women should establish crisis centres
Provide legal, social and economic support wherever she enters
If we are really interested in problem resolution
Must gender sensitize each and every social institution
Media, judiciary, police, social leaders and family structure
Including policy makers, if want, can change whole culture
To legal professionals, staff of education and women police station
Gender awareness training be provided without further hesitation
In streets, offices, supports or at any residence
Totally be eliminated any kind of gender based violence
Policy strategy be gender based, result based and convincible
Formulated in cooperation with govt. NGOs, donors and be sustainable
Legal system may be more effective and gender sensitized
Justice be speedy, cheap, and must not be biased
Public, government, NGOs and donors with better coordination
Can create gender awareness and ensure better implementation
When women like men, are equally even more faithful
Should vet curriculum from text which is discriminatory and hateful
Gender sensitization is needed for lawyers, judges and teachers
Should also include government policy makers and religious leaders
If certain checks are required to be imposed on bureaucracy
These are also needed for religious schools and theocracy
A strong support system for all women be decided
Statistics on violence and urgent relief be provided
Laws supporting women by parliament be endorsed
Then by concerned authorities be fully enforced
All discriminatory laws should be repealed or amended
Women’s problems must be considered and properly attended
Women be provided necessary support and help
An effective gender based legal system we develop
A very fair social justice system be established
All forms of discrimination against women be abolished
Men should not be neglected from process of socialization
Special programmes and models are needed for men’s sensitization
If efforts by media, govt., and pressure groups are initiated
A gender sensitized society may easily be created
If media plays its positive role with fairness
It will not be difficult to create gender awareness
Rather to reinforce women and men traditional role
Media may project diverse portrayal of both as a whole
Commonness of violence against women be highlighted
Each member of society then with media be delighted
Gender gap within educational curriculum be removed
In text with gender discrimination, changed be introduced
Gender sensitization is required for all policy makers
Not only frame rules but implement as care takers
If God has created both men and women as equal
Then nobody can make their rights as unequal

Child Domestics - by Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Child Domestics
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
The Situation
Children do domestic work so parents’ burden is reduced
But they are locked, scolded, beaten and abused
Work by children is child labour, when done as an occupation
It badly affects their development and deprives from education
Children must be ensured to fully enjoy their childhood
This message throughout the whole world be understood
They should grow in a peaceful and safe environment
Guardians have to take care of each genuine requirement
Why do adults exploit them and try to give harm?
Child labour is not acceptable in any form
All of them are like flowers and pearls
Why are valued less than boys, these girls?
Girls are more obedient, capable and responsible
Still many people consider them as highly disposable
Everyone in SAARC region knows and remembers
People hardly consider girls as permanent family members
Remain busy day and night and do whatever possible
Unfortunately, most of their work is not visible
Child domestics are abused and tortured, in addition
They are insulted and face bad living condition
On one hand they do not get share of property
Women and girls bear more burden of poverty
Protecting rights of children is a very noble goal
Govts., NGOs, and civil society should play their role
Must come to an end child labour and exploitation
Instead they should be provided proper care and education
Our Role for Child Domestics
To know situation of child domestics can keep contact
Be aware of their rights in our country’s context
Can discuss in the locality with our neighbours
If adults are available then why child labours?
Governments and others must do justice to their responsibilities?
And to support child domestic workers look for opportunities
Should stay in touch through internet and letters
With people interested to work on child domestics matters
Networking with all other agencies be made
For child domestics which can provide some aid
Governments must try for existing legal provisions to improve
Un-favourable conditions for child domestics should remove
For better access to social services more resource allocation
And access be provided to health services and universal education
Public may also be involved in child focused campaign
NGOs be allowed to do whatever is in their domain
Employers may consider children employed as their own
Irrespective of their colour: black, white or brown
Media to encourage children to speak but respect confidentiality
It has not fully played its role it is a reality
Sufficient awareness for rights of children be created
And concrete steps by children’s organizations be initiated
All of us claim that our life is very busy
For child domestic workers our access must be easy
Legal aid groups will honestly have to fight
So child domestics get each of their right
Can become responsible for children and be active
For all children across the board, never be selective
With children everyone should have positive attitude
There must not be any child slavery or servitude
Children should never be forced to join armed forces
Rather on their development we can direct more resources
No child trafficking, no pornography or child prostitution
To protect children should try each person and institution
No child can be used for any type of crimes
UN should carefully monitor it all the times
Child should do no work that harms the health
It is our future and of course the real wealth
Steps Forward
CRC by all countries of South Asia has been ratified
Generally with the articles of CRC they are satisfied
By 2010 all children at primary level be educated
Progress be monitored and properly evaluated
All children against work related exploitation be protected
In Oslo governments, NGOs, UN and others interacted
Nepal and Sri Lanka ratified Convention on Minimum Age of Employment
Before compulsory schooling for children it is time for enjoyment
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh already started implementation
For Convention on Worst Form of Child Labour, other consider ratification
Laws
Laws prohibit children employment in dangerous occupations
In order to implement them they have made regulations
Conditions under which children may work are defined
According to their local environment rules are refined
Below which cannot work they have set an age
And many children are benefiting from this advantage
Child labor law is applied in factory units which are formal
Sectors are not covered which are home-based and informal
Child work in urban sector has received enough attention
For majority of children in rural areas hardly any mention
Legal framework leaves majority without legal protection
So most working children particularly domestics are at rejection
Good Work
Bangladesh:
Non-formal education for child domestic workers is being arranged
Employers’ attitudes towards child domestic workers are changed
In drop-in centres children attend creative learning lessons
The curricula includes drama, art and music sessions
Legal aid includes advice, negotiation, mediation and litigation
Victims are helped against abuse, violence and exploitation
India:
Child domestic workers who in a locality are residing
Some NGOs to them coaching classes are providing
Child domestics are motivated to do the study
To provide them necessary guidance NGOs are ready
Stay with privileged classmates has been introduced
So ratio of failures and drop-outs has also reduced
For domestic work young women and girls are trained
Records of suitable employers for placement are maintained
Monitoring visits to these girls and women are made
To ensure their welfare and provide legal aid
NGOs are established to work for house workers solidarity
Are improving conditions of child domestics in majority
Mission is education, identification, liberation and rehabilitation
In child servitude by intervention, coalition building and mobilization
To know about their rights children are encouraged
From employing children below 14, govt. servants be discouraged
Shelter, repatriation and rescue to distressed children callers
Are offered free of cost without any payment of dollars
Pakistan:
Removal of children from exploitative situation is a good scheme
It helps children develop confidence and self-esteem
Child domestics are provided opportunity to enjoy childhood
This is also an important thing not only the livelihood
It is must and essential for each child’s advancement
And this is done through free education and skill enhancement
So that can start small businesses of their own
After completing some training girls get soft loan
On small mistakes which working children are jailed
NGOs arrange their release while police have failed
Heart Burning Voices of Child Domestics
When I get sick, my employer never treats
On very minor things insults and beats
Sometimes abused by calling names on face
I am planning to escape from this place
To any friend without permission if I meet
Mistress will punish me and break the teeth
Many years ago was left here by father
Since then I have not met my mother
Let me not say anything about others
It is my right to see sisters and brothers
Mistress never allows making a call on phone
Many times I feel helpless and alone
My employers are very cruel, in me do not trust
All my letters are opened and read by them first
Is it called justice and is it considered fair?
My space is only a corner near the stairs?
My masters keep me under that much care
Even meeting my parents, they are there!!!
Imagine the behaviour of employers is how good
Mostly I am given the left over food
In winter clothes given are not enough warm
Outside duties early morning are full of harm
Due to continuous work feel pain in my arm
Life is so difficult and without and charm
I became a domestic worker when seven years small
Neither went to school nor played with doll
Whenever he was in a mood to have ‘fun’
I became a victim of my master’s son
Cannot sleep peacefully and frightened I remain
Any time this ‘gentleman’ can ‘play’ with me again
Sometimes touches and throws a meaningful glance
Master himself may not ‘spare’ me if gets a chance
There is no one to help to whom should I tell
From such miserable life, better go to hell
The employer punishes me and physically hurts
Due to this tension my head badly bursts
Want to study and hate much to stay here
Both employer and my parents do not take care
Do work till late night and during whole day
I have no permission with anyone to play
Locked in the house in lieu of meager wage
Can anyone help me to come out of cage?
Innocent Domestic Worker Girl
She belongs to remote and far away village
With no primary school, what to talk of college
In addition poor parents cannot afford to feed
How little girl can learn to write and read
She has four sisters and three brothers
Two of them do domestic work of others
In total the ‘small’ family consists of ten
And mummy takes care of children like hen
Poor father for family is doing his best
He works day and night can hardly rest
The house is so ‘spacious’ like a bird’s nest
Whole family on floor sleeps next-to-next
Little girl at home was helping her mother
While the eldest brother was working with father
The parents did not send her to school
Rather put her to work during hot and cool
She was sent as domestic worker to neighbour
Where she has to do a lot of work as labour
Hands which would have pens and pencils
Remain busy in cleaning and washing utensils
Her parents now consider it as very good
She gets nice clothes and quality food
Employers never allow her to go out in any way
They fear from them someone will take her away
She will not get any one of her rights
Unless and until someone on her behalf fights
As early as 6 a.m. her work will start
Will prepare and serve to the family breakfast
To house then alone she sweeps and mops
And accompanies the mistress to many shops
Prepares the lunch and then after
Pressing of the clothes is done by her
She looks after the children and cuts vegetables
After all have taken food she cleans the tables
She polishes shoes, fetches water and cuts fish
Does dusting, grinds spices and washes each dish
Furniture, clothes, carpets, TV, fridge and fans
She takes care of all items plus pots and pans
Sometimes she has to work twenty hours a day
Still gets each month only five dollars pay
Governments, NGOs, and civil society should favour
And must try their best to stop child labour
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
The Situation
Children do domestic work so parents’ burden is reduced
But they are locked, scolded, beaten and abused
Work by children is child labour, when done as an occupation
It badly affects their development and deprives from education

Child Abduction
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Never say they are alone if answering the phone
Also should not answer the door if they are alone
Where are going and when they will come
Never visit others house without telling someone
Never play in the areas, which are isolated
Do not enter into buildings which are vacated
There is no need to go out and aimlessly roam
Without parents permission never invite anybody at home
Do not take from strangers any gift or chocolate
Any time someone may play with their fate
No one has right to touch any part of your body
Please be very careful many people are ‘fraudy’
In any case do not allow anyone to come so close
To private parts no one should be allowed to expose
Say “NO” to a stranger or an adult
Before accepting anything, to parents should consult
Pulls up beside them, be away from that car
If driver is not known, move away so far
Should never get into anyone’s car without permission
You may have to regret for such an omission
Forced towards building or car, it is a serious matter
Scream, and to belongings and books should scatter
Tell your parents where you are all the times
They want to protect you and save from crimes
Leave a message at home, never try to hitch hike
Any damage to yourself parents would not like
Return to your home before spreading of dark
Avoid shortcuts through field or isolated park
For any problem to them should immediately call
They are your very loving parents after all
To you if somebody, is trying to chase
Run home or go to the nearest public place
If ever attacked for clothing, jewellery or money
Do not risk your life and give each penny
Learn to recognize suspicious behaviour and remember
A description of the person and vehicle plate number
Provide at home to the child maximum facilities
Parents should accompany them in their activities
Alone from a car, stroller or public place
When a child is abducted it is difficult to trace
Environment in which children feel free to talk
With parents be frank, on their lips no lock
Should know that parents are sensitive to their fears
Close contact be kept also with children peers
Accompany young child to bathroom in public place
They should not play in or around that space
Child is less likely to fear from someone knowing ‘name’
On clothing and toys they should avoid using same
If they are in trouble can rely on police
At time of problem can provide some relief

Life Time Chain - Bonded labour - by Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Lifetime Chain - Bonded Labour
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
When for repayment of loans, labour is demanded
Then it is said that certain labourers are bonded
Millions in world are entangled to this servitude
Landlords to them are always very cruel and rude
Enslaved to do rigorous work at little price
Can hardly afford bread or piece of slice
They, including families are chained for a lifetimeLandlords can sell them to other ones any time
They are encouraged for big amounts to borrow
So that landlords can earn huge interest tomorrow
Are almost crippled to return the original amount
With interest keeps on increasing the debt account
Work seven days a week, live worse than animals
Landlords treat with them like the criminals
Do arduous and exploitative work without any respite
The landlords are very harsh and also impolite
Even when they are sick or in emergency
Children & women have to work without clemency
In cottage industries, factories, and agriculture sector
Bonded labour has been found to be a major factor
From stone crushing, brick making and carpet weaving
Efforts be made for children and women for relieving
In fish cleaning, shoe-making and rolling of tobacco leaf
Bonded labour exists, there is little chance of relief
Children work on behalf of parents without any wage
To get rid of this, when will come that stage?
At time of parents’ sickness or sudden death
Children become bonded laborer in lieu of debt
If poor parents have taken even a small loan
As bonded labourer their children will have to own
Those escaped are brought back and very badly punished
Sometimes are afraid their lives would be finished
Children and women suffer from physical and sexual abuse
Also subjected to rigorous work and are unable to refuse
Laws already do exist that prohibit debt bondage
But bonded labourers hardly get from them any advantage
Nobody seems to be able to break this chain
Till time illiteracy, poverty and cruel landlords remain

Massacre in Baghdad - by Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Massacre in Baghdad
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
What happened on 19 August 2003 Oh my God!
Many UN officials were killed in the city of Baghdad
To hear about tragic incident everyone was shocked
Due to sudden sad news blood in hearts was blocked
They were international civil servants, not military troops
Were serving the humanity, did not belong to any groups
Had nothing to do with politics of any kind
Such thing could happen, was not in anybody’s mind
Suddenly at UN Headquarters there was a big blast
In few seconds many precious lives were lost
Rescue workers to the place were immediately hurried
To help victims and save those under debris buried
Millions of people on TV witnessed this scene
How fearful and painful this incident had been
People did not believe and thought they were dreaming
Our friends in Iraq were crying for help and screaming
At the place of incident there was a lot of blood
It seemed that there had come a red flood
To human sufferings those who had come to aid
Can one imagine their bodies into pieces were made?
Death of almost 22 people gave us a big pain
It included Mr Mellow and Mr Klein-Beekman
Almost one hundred people got serious injuries
Memories of such incidents remain for centuries
Are praying day and night all friends and lovers
Hope each injured person so soon recovers
UN staff security is important, the need is quite strong
To any country, creed, culture or religion they belong
No matter, whoever performed this kind of act
Human life has been considered like that of an insect
How sad affected families and what will be they thinking
No one knows to whom this act world would be linking
What message do we give to humanitarian agencies and donors
Not to provide protection to people’s lives and honours
To any conflict UN is neither party nor directly involved
It only helps nations to have their problems resolved
Till long during whole year from January to December
To ‘dears’ of 19 August many people will remember
Those working for a very gentle and noble cause
Should not have been murdered so brutally Alas!
Were someone’s children, parents, husbands and wives
These people, for a great cause, gave their lives
Whole world stands behind them, there is no doubt
Affected families deserve our fullest moral support
Such people earn good name when they die in this way
Life is only once and one has to ‘leave’ one day
It is a great sin to kill people who are innocent
God will punish the culprits be sure hundred percent
Please do not kill UN officials and also not attack
Benefit from humanitarian services and stay at its back
It is hoped that UN will be provided full protection
In Iraq its good work will face no rejection
Let us all try to bring in this world complete peace
Instead of being revengeful, exercise forgiveness please
This is not first incident but also in the past
People became handicapped and many lives were lost
United Nations work continues with great transparency
And tries its best to reach everywhere in an emergency
Support is provided in form of goods, services and currency
Others have always appreciated our organization’s efficiency
Is fully committed to provide help to each agency
Whole world has always recognized UN competency
Children and women may suffer badly if UN stops
Who will provide Vitamin A capsules and polio drops?
There is also a need for different types of vaccines
Children may die in Iraq due to shortage of medicines
Who will provide to poor children nutritious diets?
Who will endeavour to fight for their legitimate rights?
Who will try to save them from HIV/AIDS infection?
And who will work in Iraq for child protection?
Who will take care of environmental sanitation and water?
Situation of women health is also another matter
Iraq may need appropriate support in education sector
UN in this field can play role of a major actor
A lot of work is needed to rebuild infrastructure
Without doing this can’t promote industry or agriculture
We are non-political and neutral, it is understood
All appreciate our role, which is always considered good
UN purpose in Iraq is only to serve that country
All citizens are equal irrespective of any community
Not only in one country, UN exists everywhere
Wherever there is a genuine need, its staff goes there
People who work in emergencies, enjoy a lot of regard
Not only the society but God will also reward
When we face difficulties for others, we feel satisfied
In serving human beings more lives can be sacrificed
Terrorism may not be a solution, but the dialogue
May start soon to settle present and previous backlog
Try to forget what happened in past and forgive each others
The best option is to live in this world like sisters and brothers
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani

Writing History- Mukhtaraan Mai
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Upon orders of village jirga was publicly gang raped
Almost naked our sister before villagers was dragged
She screamed and cried for 90 minutes in God’s name
Due to fear, to help Mukhtar Mai still no one came
From bowing down before cruel perpetrators she refused
Became icon for women who are battered and bruised
She became a brave and courageous woman also because
At global level various groups helped in her cause
When some villagers offered to her their moral support
Mukhtar Mai decided to fight back through the legal court
Although not majority, of her community it was a minority
Which wanted to change status quo, provided Mai great authority
Authorities were compelled to arrest rapists and order trial
Rigorous punishments were written by anti-terrorist court on file
When rapists from the prison managed to be released
Millions of people on this news were angry and displeased
After lot of internal and external pressures, again the police did detain
Till decision of the highest court in prison will have to remain
If all women of Pakistan fully unite, they might
Of oppressed women can help alleviate the plight
Although conditions of life are generally harsh and tight
When stood up firmly, women may get each single right
The “Great Mai” needs practical help not service of lips
She must not be stopped from making any trips
For sake of “security” her freedom should not be curtailed
Before international pressure all such efforts could be failed
Her free movements would benefit Pakistan but not damage
May build for the homeland a positive and soft image
To restrict her from travel when we make illogical excuses
Position further becomes awkward and the world confuses
Was not at all a plus point when her passport was seized
It is a positive sign that finally it has be released
The world considers this “woman’ a symbol of strength, WHY?
Because of the great courage shown by Mukhtar Mai
She stood up against perpetrators without anyone on her side
This is why the whole world in Mukhtar Mai has big pride
She did not bother about anyone, with her who could stand
Including any average and insecure man as a husband
There are thousands of bad incidences but Mukhtar Mai’s mishap
Across the face of feudal culture is of course a big slap
Mukhtar Mai is presently the gutsiest person on this earth!!
The whole world is compelled to know of her worth
From her rights to a woman no one can deprive
If she herself possesses the courage to survive
Mukhtar Mai was meant to be shamed and commit suicide
But to fight for justice with courage she did decide
Particularly, in the village culture which is dumb and dough
The illiterate and poor Mai proved to be very tough
As a brave woman she found the courage to live
To attackers in no circumstance she decided to forgive
Whatever amount Mukhtar Mai received in compensation
She started two schools for boys and girls education
She realizes to what extent education can contribute
Because it is the best way to change a person’s attitude
To educate people of the area she set as a goal
In her own school she decided to herself enroll
To support schools she did not posses any cash or gold
At time of financial crisis family’s cow she also sold
For villagers of the area who are injured or sick
She will run ambulance service for them to pick
Human beings should not be slaughtered just like cattle
She intends to start a group against honour killings to battle
Instead of spending money on flying, she feels pride
Even for long exhausting journeys simple bus or wagon ride
For women rights she has become an activist who is prominent
In defying tradition by speaking publicly, has never been hesitant
Has attracted media of whole world including famous rapporters
Particularly after setting up schools in village with help of supporters
Communities, NGOs, President, Prime Minister and all Ministers
Should contribute for health, education and dignity of our sisters
Sexual harassment, rape, domestic violence and inequality
Plus discrimination and injustice happen to be everyday reality
Instead of committing suicide or throughout life shedding tears
She decided to challenge harsh attitudes of society with no fears
Mukhtar Mai was also flooded with lot of marriage proposals
They were interested in dollars only so got back refusals
Runs own schools in native village and wants to stay there
If she moves to another place perhaps it may not be fair
In photos looks fragile and frightened since she is innocent
Those meet say a lot strength and faith in her are present
Many expected her suicide after rapes which is common
Could not guess Mukhtar Mai was not an ordinary woman
Until the time her case with full justice would settle
She intends to continue against the victims legal battle
All the time her life remains under risks and dangers
Must be provided protection by police, army or rangers
Whole nation with Mukhtar Mai practically should stand
Justice in the present case is of course a genuine demand
She has never been to school before but in her own view
In newly started projects her work must continue
Students in the schools brought colours in her life
For successful functioning the Mai is ready to face any strife
Putting herself in the public eye was a big decision This ordinary woman possesses what a great vision!!!
For whole population of country education we must arrange
By awareness about rights and duties to people it can change
To Media people, at many occasions, they could surprise
Answers by Mukhtar Mai are mostly articulate and concise
Keeping in view her future plans with utmost sincerity
Are ready to work NGOs and many institutions of charity
Although went against her own fame publicity of this style
But she felt media spotlight could help ensure her a fair trial
With whatever risks, openly, many times did say
Nowhere, but in her own village she would prefer to stay
To protect single woman, history witnesses, armies were dispatched
Mai will fight alone against army of institutions as her honour was snatched
World will only believe in our slogan of “enlightened moderation”
When justice to victims would be provided by each relevant organization
To pay tribute to Mukhtar Mai the words are not so profound
Who proved she is a woman of strong character and background
Does not demand favour from anyone or special concessions
She begs for justice only beyond promises and photo sessions
Mukhtar Mai has correctly chosen to wage a moral warWhich has made herself at world level a “SUPER STAR”
As per laws of the state and under the constitution
All citizens must get equal treatment from each institution
How many religious leaders have supported and to her visited?
Why their measure of morality to marathons is limited?
What politicians and parliament do for people who are needy?
Do they provide support to victims which is respectful and speedy?
Don’t tolerate oppression and injustice, no need to weep
Rather conscience of all citizens must awake from deep sleep
Mukhtar Mai with her own hands new history is writing
With police, judicial system, and jirgas single handedly is fighting

Success and Failure in Career - by Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Success and Failure in Career
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Lack of well defined direction and long term goals
May prevent people to take decision and play required roles
Must know which direction you are headed and not blame the fate
Find your purpose and also get out of the starting gate
A person with weak desire will get weak result
Then what is justification for feeling any shame or insult
Dreams will only come true let everyone be informed
When desires into concrete actions have been transformed
For those people in certain careers who want to survive
Should know, for their success, the desire will drive
A person indifferent to success and also with little hope
With new emerging situations would hardly be able to cope
Do not refuse to take risks and never be overly cautious
Rather should be innovative, courageous, and ambitious
Though risky, each morning, travel on vehicles is made
Otherwise shall not reach workplace and won’t get paid
Potential benefit outweighs the risk if we have decided
Application of same thinking to career should not be avoided
If you will refuse to take chance, certainly will lose
Even may not get the leftovers while others can choose
If in a fair way with full interest we do not take part in game
To outside circumstances for our problems should not blame
We have to be fully accountable and responsible for lives
Success and failure depend on what extent one strives
Life will deliver when we shall choose appropriate course of actions
Nothing will improve by pointing fingers and raising objections
By making lame excuses one cannot reach a higher grade
From lemon, the high achiever will try to make lemonade
Lack of self disciple in life is also another barrier
In the path of our further success and better career
One needs to do the best in order to become expert
Self-control is the hardest job which one has to exert
Perhaps on a daily basis we may step in front of a mirror
Practice self control and try to remove each error
With insufficient knowledge and main focus lack
A person will hardly go forward but towards back
Instead of many, at one time, better take a single aim
Give careful thought and fully focus on the same
Can’t enjoy a successful career without a good health
Which is very important and of course a big wealth
Lack of exercise and in food, alcohol or drugs overindulgence
In order to maintain good health should avoid such negligence
Through indecisive attitude and undue procrastination
You would not be able to reach a goal or destination
No fear of failure, don’t be afraid and tend to avoid
People who work hard, God is always on their side
Will find along the way whatever you need
But take small steps toward your goal in deed
Faster towards your goals you could move, it is true
Have to be willing to be uncomfortable while dreams to pursue
Don’t lack self-confidence and be afraid to fail
From each experience will learn something, will not go to jail!!!
This world to anyone of us anything does not owe
We owe it everything for the privilege of being here
To become rich in one day puts on a track to nowhere
A person reaches no destination and remains hanging here and there
Although by most human being it could be desired
But wealth and success overnight are rarely acquired
All desires by mere sitting idle cannot be fulfilled
Over years of working towards a purpose, success one can build
Ability to get along with others gives power to succeed
No one will help a negative person at time of need
Uncooperative behaviour with people and also intolerance
In career development may cause unnecessary hindrance
If you do not like a field, do not to it choose
Will not find true career success and may become confuse
Interest, passion and love for work keep one going
Provide competitive edge one needs and continue growing
One has to be very honest and remain on right track
Universal law is what one puts out always gets back
Instead of being fully informed, don’t just rely on guess
In order to get satisfactory answers, to situation should assess
Work hard, don’t be lazy and have a clear vision
After comprehensive research make timely and correct decision
There must not be any lack of determination and persistence
What to talk of growth, it may threaten your existence
Never give up at the sign of trouble or defeat
Try to use all abilities for your mission to complete
Rather than short term, to long term results should commit
To achieve them do sincere efforts and never idle sit

Healing of Tsunami Affected Children
Healing of Tsunami Affected Children
By Mohammad Azim Khan Keyani
Was watched on TV, heard on radio and in newspapers read
In 26 December 2004 tsunami thousands of children were dead
It caused damage to lives and property and spread fear
Earthquake off the coast of Indonesia in 40 years was the most severe
Based on information which by various sources has been collected
Millions of children by this worst catastrophe have been affected
From their families many of them have been separated
Are now lonely, left homeless and deeply desperated
These children are the most vulnerable at great numbers
Particularly those without parents and close family members
To provide complete protection to this huge number is quite hard
In this regard cooperation is needed from all over the world
If affected children are not protected from further harm
Will suffer more and their lives would be without charm
They could easily become victim of exploitation and abuse
Possible efforts must be made for their sufferings to reduce
We need to make sure that in affected countries any black sheep
Could not use children for any labour particularly which is cheap
With their families and communities if they are reunited
Will gradually recover from the shock and may be delighted
Of their immediate family members who have lost the care
To reunite such children, a second we should not spare
On the emotional well-being of children may by enormous impact
If they remain within their communities, there may be less affect
Going back to routine life as soon as possible is good
For them we must ensure shelter, water and nutritious food
From all possible harms to children if we want fully to stop
Global level efforts would be needed from bottom to top
All children separated from their families must be registered
In an organized manner the whole process be monitored
To rest and to play such children may be placed
Close to shelters of families which are also displaced
With full honesty be implemented and not merely decided
To take care of children, support to family members be provided
Possible facilities be provided for good health and sanitation
Arrangements be made so children could continue their education
It is very important for children to school should be back
Will recover from trauma and shock and come on normal track
Children will get nothing only from passing of resolutions
Whose families cannot be traced, require long-term solutions
To ensure maximum safety of children in various localities
Lot of work is needed by UN, NGOs and local authorities
Positive role shall have to be played by each agency
To protect children, immunization is needed as an emergency
Those traumatized, for some time, proper care would be needing
Particularly, malnourished children would badly require special feeding
Children would need proper guidance and also be motivated
To accommodate them, school will have to be rehabilitated
Tetanus, measles, malaria, water borne and acute respiratory diseases
If prevention and treatment are not done, health risk further increases
For basic necessities of life children towards which look
Someone will have to provide them clean water to drink and cook
Because of lot of debris and facial contaminants in different lands
Advocacy is needed for water purification and washing of hands
Need trauma counseling and other support to come out of shock
Children need safe place to live and opportunities to talk
In order to identify separated children need to look around
So that their parents, families and caregivers are found
Should ask children their own plus mother and father name
Date and place of birth and also from where they came
If could not speak due to young age or because of fear
Could be identified from clothes on missing day would wear
We must ask such children about each of their needs
Try to meet them so God will reward for good deeds
To live with own family is every child’s basic right
Sincere and quick efforts be made for all to reunite
As soon as relationship is confirmed, it is quite better
So that children and families could start living together
Psychosocial aid to the traumatized children should be delivered
Until from this catastrophe they are fully recovered
Children be encouraged to express their sorrows to ease
The grief and tension and anxiety of this tragedy may release
If support from teachers, friends and parents is mobilized
It will definitely help children to recover who are traumatized
Innocent, cute, lovely, and beautiful like pearls, diamonds and gold
Still children are vulnerable of being slaves and sold
There are some painful news of child trafficking unfortunately
Relevant agencies will have to be watchful all the time adequately
It is injustice of society or perhaps children’s bad luck
Young innocents are raped and missing after tsunami struck
Tsunami affected children may now be exposed more
To predatory sex offenders and people-smugglers than ever before
For children who are displaced by war and natural disaster
Play and sport serve as trauma therapy to recover faster
To express by art or drama an opportunity if we give
Through such activities affected children normal life can live
Children need to feel safe and with known people have link
It will reduce fears and create atmosphere in future to think
Serving the tsunami victims is no doubt a great cause
This will enable children to bear their grief and loss
Anyone in the whole world who has sympathetic feeling
Must help these affected children in the processing of healing

The Criticism
By Mohammad . Azim Khan Keyani
People who always look for an opportunity for negative criticism
Why don’t they be positive minded and believe in optimism
In practical world there is hardly anything called perfectionism
Then perhaps one should think about the extent of activism
One thing which a person considers hundred percent correct
Other people may differ with that or even totally reject
From indulging in minor things we should remain above
And always treat all colleagues with affection and love
It is not good to be negative always and quite offensive
Rather should be receptive to new things and not defensive
Good ideas, if any, we should in our mind not only keep
To present them in a positive way before others must speak
On useful suggestions why one should become tense
Telling good things to others makes lot of sense
Whether someone likes or not but looking into depth
By positive criticism a person is well informed kept
If we have a valid point in mind, never try to suppress
Should need to know in a better way how can we address
Always intention should be ‘good’ and not a mischief
Purpose be only ‘improvement’ with sincere belief
No one is perfect in this world, mistakes everyone makes
A person is very great, criticism who patiently takes
Any idea presented by someone should be quite sensible
But avoid pulling legs of others just to become visible
To make sure that a participatory environment is kept
Listen, no matter IN from right ear and OUT from left
No one can compel anybody, it is an individual choice
To have courage for digesting from others some advice
Don’t expect from people all the time praising song
It increases the respect if accepts one is wrong
To whatever category of staff different people belong
They should try to make their listening ability strong
Finding faults in other people is perhaps a big crime
Why don’t for something useful we spend that time
If one is not performing well, still in a hurry
What others are doing why one should worry
It is better that all people in their own domain
In what they are supposed to do busy should remain
Let us to each other very frankly and openly tell
Whoever falls into habit of criticizing cannot progress well
People who are wise, intelligent and smart
To find bad qualities in others, never apply this art
By pointing one finger at others, is it not true?
Automatically, three fingers shall be pointing towards you
Before accusing others evaluate your own self at least thrice
So that later you don’t have to pay for it heavy price
Instead of criticizing others and putting on them blame
Should look at own faults and try to remove same
To keep eye on weaknesses of others, don’t make a fashion
One also needs to keep in mind other people passion
If to millions of mistakes our God can forgive
Without criticizing other people why can’t we live
For serious problems one can give feedback as quick
But that could be done nicely with wisdom and trick
Do guide people, teach them and pat at their back
However, it is unhealthy to give feeling of personal attack
At any forum for giving suggestion there should not be objection
But this must not be done for sole purpose of personal projection
By reducing criticism and increasing praise with sweet flavour
It is absolutely possible to tip the scales in your favour
It is a great sin if someone deliberately tries to hurt
Because God Almighty Himself resides in an heart
Time allowing people have full right on their points to emphasize
However, through various means may avoid to unnecessarily criticize
Learning how to take and give criticism is quite tough
Should never talk with people in a way which is rough
If on each single positive suggestion one will show concern
It is not known how an individual will improve and learn
People will definitely be frustrated when being let down
For doing so nobody will put on one’s head a ‘crown’
A person who has disappointed, it may be one’s desire
In reaction criticize severely and hardly admire
Rolling eyes or disapproving facial expressions be unpleasant
Non verbal criticism like head shaking we must prevent
About effects of criticism many people may not be aware
It will improve overall behaviour of a person quite rare
Causes of their own and others' actions people differently perceive
A person habitual of criticizing would hardly be ready to receive
Most people think their behavior is affected by outside actors
However, others' behavior is caused by internal factors
To change behaviour PRAISE is the most effective way
Instead of criticism, more attention on it all should pay
Negative behaviors tend to fade due to lack of reinforcement While praise provides the good things people do full endorsement
Behaviour that is rewarded many people may repeat
To good expectations of their colleagues will try to meet
Through appreciation and praise people will go the extra mile
Will be able to do more work and maintain high profile
